Vers 1
Neem, HEER, mijn bange klacht ter oren;
Zie, als 't aan woorden mij ontbreekt,
Wat d' overdenking in mij spreekt;
Verwaardig U, uit 's hemels koren,
Mijn stem te horen!
Vers 2
Sla ied're zucht, mijn hart ontgleden,
Opmerkend gâ; schenk mij 't genot
Uws heils, mijn Koning en mijn God;
Ik zal tot U, met mijn gebeden,
Eerbiedig treden.
Vers 3
Ik zal, door 't ijvervuur aan 't blaken,
O HEER, bij 't scheem'rend morgenlicht,
Mij stellen voor Uw aangezicht;
Oprechte boezemzuchten slaken,
En biddend waken.
Vers 4
Gij, die geducht zijt in vermogen,
Verdraagt de goddeloosheid niet;
Gij zult, o God, die 't al doorziet,
Den boze voor Uw heilig' ogen,
Geenszins gedogen.
Vers 5
Wie zinloos, zonder t' overwegen
Wat hem betaamt, tot U durft gaan,
Zal voor Uw aanschijn niet bestaan;
Gij haat, en staat hun billijk tegen,
Die onrecht plegen.
Vers 6
Gij, HEER, verdelgt den leugenspreker.
Hij, die zijn hand met bloed bevlekt,
En gruw'len met bedrog bedekt,
Tergt, als de snoodste wetverbreker,
Den hoogsten Wreker.
Vers 7
Maar mij ontmoet Uw mededogen;
Ik zal, Uw woning ingeleid,
En, naar 't paleis der heiligheid
In ware Godsvrees neergebogen,
Uw gunst verhogen.
Vers 8
Leid mij in Uw gerechtigheden,
Om mijn verspied'ren wil, en richt
Uw wegen voor mijn aangezicht;
Dan zal ik veilig voorwaarts treden,
Met vaste schreden.
Vers 9
Al 't recht is van hun mond geweken,
Zij leggen 't op verderven toe;
Hun keel is nooit verslindens moe,
Hun tong tracht, vleiend, ons door treken
Naar 't hart te steken.
Vers 10
Draagt Gij, o God, hen nog geduldig?
Verwoest hun raadslag; drijf hen heen,
Daar z' Uwe wet zo stout vertreên,
Zij tergen U te menigvuldig;
Verklaar hen schuldig.
Vers 11
Maar geef Uw dierb'ren gunstelingen,
Wier geest in U zijn sterkte vindt,
Wier hart Uw naam oprecht bemint,
In U volvrolijk op te springen,
En blij te zingen.
Vers 12
't Rechtvaardig volk zult Gij belonen,
Terwijl Gij, HEER, hen overdekt,
Hun tot een veilig schild verstrekt.
Gij zult goedgunstig hen bekronen,
Ja, bij hen wonen.

Psalm 5
1 To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.
Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct [my prayer] unto thee, and will look up.
4 For thou [art] not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, I will come [into] thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: [and] in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part [is] very wickedness; their throat [is] an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield.
