Psalm 65

Vers 1
De lofzang klimt uit Sions zalen
Tot U met stil ontzag;
Daar zal men U, o God, betalen
Geloften, dag bij dag.
Gij hoort hen, die Uw heil verwachten,
O Hoorder der gebeên,
Dies zullen allerlei geslachten
Ootmoedig tot U treên.

Vers 2
Een stroom van ongerechtigheden
Had d' overhand op mij;
Maar ons weerspannig overtreden
Verzoent en zuivert Gij.
Welzalig, dien Gij hebt verkoren,
Dien G' uit al 't aards gedruis
Doet naad'ren, en Uw heilstem horen,
Ja, wonen in Uw huis.

Vers 3
Daar zal ons 't goede van Uw woning
Verzaden, reis op reis,
En 't heilig deel, o grote Koning,
Van Uw geducht paleis.
Gij, Gij zult vreselijke dingen
Ons, in gerechtigheid,
Doen horen, en ons blij doen zingen
Van 't heil, voor ons bereid.

Vers 4
O onze God, o vast vertrouwen
Van 't allerverste land,
Op Wien al 's aardrijks einden bouwen
En 't wijdstgelegen strand;
Gij, die de hemelhoge bergen
Doet pal staan door Uw kracht,
Zodat zij vloed en stormen tergen,
Gij zijt omgord met macht.

Vers 5
't Gebruis der zee doet Gij bedaren,
Daar Gij haar golven stilt;
't Rumoer der volken, als der baren,
Betoomt Gij, waar Gij wilt.
Wie d' einden dezer aard' bewonen,
Aanschouwen, dag aan dag,
De teek'nen, die Uw almacht tonen,
Met vrees en diep ontzag.

Vers 6
Gij geeft, dat d' uitgang van den morgen
En van den avond juicht,
En dat men U voor al Uw zorgen
Ootmoedig dank betuigt.
Het land bezoekt Gij met Uw zegen,
En, door U droog gemaakt,
Verrijkt Gij 't grootlijks weer met regen,
Die tot den wortel raakt.

Vers 7
De Godsrivier doet G' overvloeien,
En op 't bereide land,
Het nuttig koren welig groeien;
Uw Goddelijke hand
Maakt d' opgeploegde voren dronken,
Tot uit de weke kluit,
Waar 't dropp'lend nat is ingezonken,
Gezegend voedsel spruit.

Vers 8
Uw goedheid kroont de jaargetijen;
Waar Gij Uw voetstap zet,
Daar doet Gij 't al ten zegen dijen,
Daar druipt het al van vet.
Het woeste veld vangt zelfs die droppen,
Zijn weide blijft niet droog;
De heuvels steken blijde toppen
Met lachend groen omhoog.

Vers 9
De velden zijn bedekt met kudden;
De dalen zijn bekleed
Met halmen, die van zwaarte schudden,
En lonen 's landmans zweet.
Zij juichen, elk op zijne wijze;
Uw eer klimt uit het stof;
Zij zingen, Uwen naam ten prijze,
Uw goedheid en Uw lof.

Psalm 65

1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm [and] Song of David.
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.

2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

3 Iniquities prevail against me: [as for] our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

4 Blessed [is the man whom] thou choosest, and causest to approach [unto thee, that] he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, [even] of thy holy temple.

5 [By] terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; [who art] the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off [upon] the sea:

6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; [being] girded with power:

7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, [which] is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.

10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.

11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

12 They drop [upon] the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.

13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
